Has crime been increasing in the Pearl District? The Oregonian says so. Pearl District resident, Tom Winslow was walking at 11th and Lovejoy when an attacker came at a running rage towards him. The two scrambled on the ground for a brief time. When police arrived the perpetrator had already fled the scene, no arrests have been made.

The graph (to the right) created by The Oregonian’s David Badders, shows data from the Portland Police Bureau statistics dating back to 2007, crime has been steadily rising. And is on track to continue to raise this year.

Overall, the Pearl District is a very safe place and residents & visitors should not be afraid to explore the urban playground anytime. Keeping in mind most condominium developments have security staff 24/7.
