When Vestas announced last year they would establish Portland as their new headquarters we knew the facility would only be the best. They’ve taken over the former Meirer & Frank warehouse, the conversion has been well underway for some time now, but they’ve recently come to an agreement with SolarWorld to provide a 112-killowatt solar system. It comes as no surprise that they would use solar technology, because they’re a renewable power source themselves.

Vestas provides wind turbines for North America. The company has done projects here in the Northwest, along the Columbia River Gorge.

When the new headquarters is completed it will measure 172,000 square feet. The building features retail space on the ground level, an eco roof, and will include LEED Platinum designation.
