All day tomorrow, Wednesday March, 20, Whole Foods in the Pearl District will be donating 5% of its sales to Grow Portland. This will count as one of Whole Food’s Community Days. A community day is something the retailer holds for non-profits needing financial assistance. Learn more about the Whole Foods in the Pearl District.

Grow Portland is a non-profit focusing on urban gardening and agriculture. They offer everything from education, supplies, land, and buyer resources. According to their website, the company vision says, “All residents will enjoy the ecological, health and community benefits of urban food production.” Currently the company has three community gardens open; all which are partnered with other organizations.

Based on Whole Food’s annual report from 2010, we figure this location makes about $82,000/day in sales. Grow Portland would benefit about $4,100 from this.
